Bringing AM to Hollywood
We’re incredibly excited to share two fantastic videos that chronicle the story of how Velo3D, working alongside 3D Printing Nerd and Paramount Pictures, 3D printed the head of Optimus Primal, leader of the Maximals, as seen in Paramount Pictures upcoming feature film “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” which releases June 9, 2023.
Both the head and stand featured in the videos are comprised of Inconel® 718, a high-performance nickel-based alloy used by some of today’s most innovative space companies. The superalloy is known for its strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance—properties that make it an ideal material for objects exposed to harsh environments and rival robot factions.

Whether it’s advanced designs or legacy parts, our solution includes everything you need to begin production, giving you immediate access to a reliable and scalable supply chain.
Flow Software
Flow print preparation software is responsible for prescribing the manufacturing process for the Sapphire family of metal 3D printers. The software’s feature-based process library eliminates the need to develop new part-specific parameters sets—saving months of development time and reducing the need for specialized technicians. With more than two dozen standardized recipes, engineers can analyze the part while Flow automatically applies the right recipe to each feature.
